Chapter 16

Liam

“I’ve got this, honey, why don’t you go and see who else needs taking care of. Raid the phycologists’ offices and then I’ll head to the restaurant. I’ll meet you back at the group therapy room once I’m done here,” said Stella as she sat in the middle of her office, straddled on top of Josie as she poured a needle of black blood into her neck. Josie’s scream finally halted underneath the firm muscling hold of Stella’s hand; Josie’s body turned limp. It was the first time that Josie was receiving a full dose of albet blood, maybe it would make her less annoying and ditsy. I could only hope. In fact, it was the first time that all of the staff around Vallura were going to receive a full dose of the blood, and any unchanged students that I had come across, whether they were ready or not. Now was their time. All we had to do was to make sure that there were no humans left in Vallura or my whole hometown. From there, we could reassess and move on to wherever else we were needed. My hope was that this was only going to take a day.

“There’s more syringes in the bottom draw,” said Stella. I nodded and walked back around her desk, grabbing ten fresh needles and shoving five into each of my back jean pockets. I don’t think I’d ever been so excited to inject people, take away the lives completely of the doped-up losers that were working in this place, thinking that they were spending their lives making the future generation better, what a joke. I couldn’t wait to tell them all the real dark plan that they were a part of. I chuckled to myself at the thought. I wasn’t going to tell them. I was going to show them.

“Okay, I’ll be back,” I said as I swung the front door open.

“Oh, and Liam,” Stella’s voice cooed.

“Yeah?” I said, turning my head back towards her.

“I love you,” she said, flashing me a wink and a smile.

“I love you too,” I said as I pouted my lips and blew her a kiss. “I’ll be back as soon as possible. One, because I want to get the hell out of here. Two, because I’m so God damn efficient at this job. And three, because before we leave, I think that it’s only fair that I get some time with you in here.” I craved her body. “You know just like the first time… only better,” I said, quickly slamming the door behind me before she could say any more. I hope I left her wanting more, just as she liked it. I walked down the hallway and back out towards reception, heading straight for the entrance door.

“Um, Liam.” I turned around to see the young red-headed receptionist staring back at me, all freckly faced and wide-eyed. Her once-muddied black eyes had also turned back into a light green. The doses that Stella had previously been giving everyone had really worn off.
